Edward Wayne Edwards made his initial court appearance in the Jefferson County Circuit Court at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. Edwards was transported to Jefferson County from Louisville, KY, Aug. 12 after being charged with two counts of first degree murder. Kelly Drew and Timothy Hack of Fort Atkinson disappered almost 30 years ago from a wedding reception at Concord House. Their bodies were found three months later in a wooded area in Ixonia. A recent federal grant has allowed cold case files in the state to be re-investigated. The Drew/Hack murder was re-opened and a DNA sample taken from Drew's pants was recently matched to Edwards who was a groundskeeper at Concord House at the time of the murders.
Edwards, 76, did not speak at the hearing. Judge Randy Koschnick set an Aug. 27 preliminary hearing date.
