Men. Falls man investigated for stalking ex-girlfriend using GPS device

The Menomonee Falls Police Department is investigating a man suspected of stalking his ex-girlfriend using a GPS device installed on her vehicle.

According to a search warrant affidavit, the investigation first began in February after the 42-year-old man allegedly forced entry into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Menomonee Falls.

The ex-girlfriend said in the affidavit she believed the man, with whom she shared a child, had also vandalized her car in a separate incident. She said she was at a friend’s house and came outside to find her vehicle’s windshield wipers and front license plate damaged.

The man was questioned and admitted to damaging the vehicle, the affidavit states. He also confessed to installing a tracking device on the vehicle in early 2013, though he claimed he had done it to track his daughter’s whereabouts.

A search of the man’s cell phone showed that he had received updates on the vehicle’s location 87 times in a single 24-hour period. He had further used Google Maps to track the vehicle’s location 67 times in four days.

It took police two searches of the vehicle to turn up the tracking device, the affidavit states.

The man does not currently face any charges in Waukesha County Circuit Court.
