Summit death remains under investigation

A 60-year-old man thought to be the victim in a death investigation in the Village of Summit was afraid that his son would kill him.

"I fear for my life," the father said in a statement attached to a petition for a restraining order against his son.

According to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, Village of Summit Police were called to check on the well-being of a man in a home at 34825 Elm St. on Thursday morning and found a 60-year-old man deceased.

In a news release, the Sheriff's Department called the death "suspicious." Summit police are working with the Sheriff's Department on the case. Neither agency has released any additional information.

While the address and the age of the victim match those of the man who sought the restraining order on Jan. 21, police have not confirmed they are the same person.

In seeking the temporary restraining order, which was granted, the man alleged that his 27-year-old son punched him in the side of the head just after midnight Jan. 21. The son was allegedly angry with him for telling him to get a job, according to the document.

In the request for the order, the man said he went to the hospital the same night for treatment for injuries that included a scalp abrasion, shoulder contusion and bruised finger

According to the petition, in a prior incident, his son attached electrical wires to "both sides of my head to try to kill me," the man wrote.

"He said next time he was not going to stop punching me until I black out," the father wrote.

The son appeared in court Jan. 21 on charges of battery and disorderly conduct. He was ordered to have no contact with his father or residence, with the exception of a visit to the residence, accompanied by an officer to obtain his personal items.

The son is listed in an online list of inmates at Waukesha County Jail.
