Rebecca Kleefisch to undergo elective chemo

Lt. Governor-elect Rebecca Kleefisch announced today that she will undergo elective chemotherapy as a preventative measure in her fight against colon cancer.

“Later today, I will begin elective chemotherapy to ensure that the tumor that was successfully removed from my colon in August will never come back.," Kleefisch said.

"As a 35-year-old wife and mother with 2 small children, I am following the recommendation of my doctor to begin preventative treatment. I was given the choice of whether to do chemo, and we decided as a family that it's the right choice for me. ???I expect to keep a full, normal work schedule over the course of the treatments and can't wait to start the exciting work of getting Wisconsin back to work again!”

Govenor-elect Scott Walker said in a statement today that he supports Kleefisch's plan.

"Rebecca has shown remarkable strength and determination through a very long sttae-wide campaign, while at the same time undergoing successful cancer treatment. Tonette and I will continue to support Renecca and Joel and their daughters Ella and Violet through this treament and transition period."

Kleefisch is cancer-free and was given the option of chemotherapy to ensure the cancer does not return, according to the statement released today.
