A 56-year-old woman died Saturday when a minivan hit the motorcycle that she and a 55-year-old man were riding on National Ave. in Vernon, the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department reported.

The two, both from Walworth County, were headed eastbound at about 1 p.m. when a 41-year-old woman driving westbound in a minivan made a left turn and crashed into the motorcycle.

The man, who was driving the motorcycle, was seriously injured and taken to Froedtert Hospital. The woman riding with him was pronounced dead at the scene after lifesaving measures failed. The minivan driver, a Mukwonago resident, had minor injuries.

Police are investigating the incident. They say alcohol and drugs were not involved, according to WISN.
