Longtime Waukesha County Circuit Judge Donald Hassin Jr. has announced he will retire.

In a letter Monday to Gov. Scott Walker, Hassin wrote it has been a privilege to serve for the past 20 years and that his retirement would be effective Sept. 30.

Walker's office is now seeking applicants for appointment to Hassin's seat. Anyone selected to fill out Hassin's term would face election in April. Applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. July 24, according to the governor's office.
