Prospective volunteers in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest are invited to a Saturday meeting at the Forest Headquarters, S91 W39091 State Hwy 59, Eagle. The meeting will start at 9 a.m.

The meeting will provide information about specific volunteer opportunities. Volunteers can work at scheduled workdays throughout the year or on self-directed individual projects. Workday activities include removing invasive plant species, collecting native prairie seeds, building nest boxes and improving trails.

Self-directed opportunities include adopt a trail, historical cabin caretaker, assisting with marketing for interpretive programs and monitoring nest boxes. The positions are very flexible, according to park officials.

Anyone who has ideas and an interest in the outdoors should attend the meeting and help brainstorm for new projects to work on, said Amanda Prange, visitor service associate and volunteer coordinator.

“If you think you have skills that could help us manage and preserve the beauty of the Kettle Moraine State Forest, please join us on February 22 and see what the Southern Unit has to offer you,” Prange said.
