As promised, Mukwonago residents who oppose a state-mandated change to their public schools' Indians mascot and nickname have asked the state Supreme Court to hear their case.

The residents had prevailed before a Waukesha County judge, but last month the state Court of Appeals ruled the residents lacked standing to challenge an administrative hearing process that upheld an order that the school district change the mascot and name.

The latest appeal in the case claims the residents have standing to bring a constitutional claim, regardless of whether they were parties to the initial administrative hearing process, because of the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
