Seidel dominates at AHS CC Invite

There was no stopping sophomore Molly Seidel of tiny University Lake School Thursday afternoon at the prestigious and talent-laden Arrowhead Cross Country Invitational.

Seidel, the defending WIAA Division 3 state champion, led every step of the way in the 4,000-meter race and won the event with a personal-best time of 14:18.49. Seidel pulled away from Waukesha North junior Jenna McMiller in the final 800 yards to win the race by seven seconds. North's Sammi Donovan was third (14:28) and Arrowhead senior Gabby Levac, the defending WIAA Division 1 state champion, was fourth at 14:36.

The meet is one of the strongest of the season each year.

Homestead won the team championship with 68 points. Other teams in the top five were Whitefish Bay with 82, Waukesha West 103, Arrowhead 105 and Waukesha North 172.

After Levac for Arrowhead came Danielle Dvorak in 17th at 15:31, Andie Zeman 19th 15:38, Amanda Bauer 21st at 15:40 and Kellie Wolfgram 45th 16:35.

Oconomowoc sophomore Mandy Prom finished seventh in the field of 100 runners with a time of 15:07. OHS placed seventh in the field of 14 teams.
